The big cottons
Quest for well-being and freedom
In early 19th century New Orleans, in the final years of the slave trade (1790-1860), enslaved women harvested a rare cotton flower on a small farm, picked at first light. This flower, with its captivating scent, impregnated their hands and clothes, transforming them into symbols of beauty and desire.
The unique aroma of this flower attracted the attention of plantation owners and influential members of society. Recognizing the exceptional value of their work and the flower, the slave women of this plantation were freed from their condition.
Their freedom was thus symbolically acquired through the recognition of their valuable contribution.
Les grands cotons pays homage to this moving story. It captures the essence of flowers picked at dawn, mixing the softness of cotton with the freshness of the morning. By celebrating the end of the tragic times of slavery, Les grands cotons evokes the beauty and dignity found again, offering a perfume charged with hope and freedom.
